When conventional building materials are blocked or unavailable, architecture must return to first principles.
Full-scale prototypes have already been built and the shelter work has entered real use.
The first practical dome used pallet-type timber.
A second full-scale direction explored interlocking earthen blocks.
Tents are valuable for immediate emergencies, but they are not long-term housing.
